Get In The Mood

So today is not only Valentine's Day and Vagina Day, it is also the annual Dirty Show in Detroit. It takes place every Valentine's weekend and is going on now until February 18th.

For those who may not know already, The Dirty Show is an erotic art exhibition that has become one of the largest in the world. The show features performance artists dancers, and the spoken word and draws people from all over the world.

We had a chance to catch up with a couple people involved in the show.

HipInDetroit- How long have you been involved in The Dirty Show and how did you get involved?
Bri- I've been involved with the dirty show for four years. I started off modeling and doing shows for Noir Leather and we did a skit at the dirty show a few years back. I took a year or so off from the modeling and dancing in the show and then came back to the dirty show in 2010. 
HipInDetroit- What is your role in the show?
Bri- I'm a go-go dancer. I dance in the cages for most of the night. Then walk around amongst the crowd.
HipInDetroit- How would you explain The Dirty Show to someone who has never been?
Bri- The dirty show is the place to go if you want to see people be who they really are, no judgment, no bullshit, just real people. The art is amazing and racy, as well as the acts that perform on stage throughout the night. Its nothing like you will ever see, but it opens your eyes to a whole new world that most people shy away from.
HipInDetroit- Do you have an inside tip about this years show? Or is there something that makes it different from years past?
Bri- The show gets better as the years go on, everyone that works it finds ways to make it better and more enticing each year. The people that put it on have grown and found ways to make it run more smoothly (from a behind the scenes perspective). I don't really have any inside scoop. I just think that everyone should go and experience it at least once, its an eye opener.

'Doing The Dirty Show for the second year in a row is great. Being around all this creativity and self expression is such a breath of fresh air. Another reason why I love performing at it is because it makes me feel comfortable with my body and to appreciate the human anatomy'

We think it all sounds pretty great, so if you're feeling dirty, you better get your butt over there.
