This winter we have seen a lot of bands that could be considered punk rock royalty coming through Michigan and many of these acts came through town because of the hard work of the ladies over at Black Iris Booking. This Thursday, March 7th, The Queers are coming to town with Teenage Bottlerocket to continue that trend.
The Queers have been playing music together on and off for over 30 years and are as well known for their original music as they are for their covers. They specialize in doing covers of bands like The Who, The Beach Boys and The Ramones, with their own special twist to them. Joe Queer, Dangerous Dave and Lurch Nobody still know how to get a crowd moving after all these years.
Teenage Bottlerocket is a pop punk band from Wyoming that was formed in 2001 by twin brothers Ray and Brandon Carlisle. Their latest album is called “Freak Out” and it was put out by none other than Fat Wreck Chords. You can check out the video for the single “Headbanger” here to get a feel for what they are all about:
This lineup is nicely rounded out by The Dewtons and Masked Intruder. The show is $12 in advance and $14 at the door. Doors for this show are at 8 p.m. The Magic Stick is located 4140 Woodward Ave. in Detroit.
