Restaurant Review: Townhouse In Downtown Birmingham

We tried another 'new-to-us' restaurant this week and we could not wait to tell you about it. The Townhouse is located in Birmingham and despite driving past it many times we have never stopped to have a meal there. A friend invited us to meet her for dinner on her 30th birthday and we are taking this opportunity to rant and rave about the great meal that we had.

Townhouse is an upscale restaurant in the heart of downtown Birmingham that was recently voted best burger by Channel 4 and one of the best new restaurants by Hour Detroit and The Free Press, but none of us got the burger so I cannot comment on that. You will just have to go try the burger to find out how good it is yourself.
Our group ordered the truffle fries and vegetable samosas as appetizers. The fries were huge and to die for. Some of the best truffle fries that I have ever eaten and there was enough to feed all three of us. The Samosas were good and seemed to have sweet potatoes cooked into them which I liked, but I thought the price was a little steep with only two samosas in the order.

After appetizers we ordered drinks. The restaurant features specialty cocktails and we ordered a few of them. You can even order a can of PBR tall boy that comes in a paper bag! We ended up loving the real Margaritas and something called the Town Screw. I think we loved the name as much as the drink.
My meal consisted of salmon draped over a mix of lentils and spinach. Christie ordered the chicken over a bed of brussel sprouts, asparagus and fingerling potatoes, and Elyse got the daily special of steak over creamed corn. Each Of our portions were hearty and all of the food was excellent. I especially loved the steak and the lentil/spinach mix. Both of those were cooked to my preference and melted in my mouth.
This restaurant has tables both indoors and outdoors with large umbrellas to protect you from the sun if you go on a hot day. They also have a full bar with lots of beer and alcohol selections. They bring your meal to you inside a red tool box that keeps it safe and warm as they walk it over from the kitchen that is in a different building. I thought that this was an extra special touch. The waiters and waitresses all wear cute outfits that are black and red and the 27 year old owner was hanging out talking to the customers and enjoying a meal himself. Overall it was one of the nicest meals and experiences that we have had at a resturant in a long time. I have to warn you that this restaurant is pricey and may not be in your budget to just stop in. My food was around $25, cocktails around $12 dollars and appetizers were around $8- $15. It is, however, worth the money if you are looking for a good meal in a good environment.

The Townhouse islocated at 180 Pierce Street Birmingam, Michigan and you can check out their menu online here.
