This Saturday we will be packing up the car for another year at Dirt Fest, a large scale D.I.Y. music festival that is held at the Birch Run Expo Center. In the past, Between the Buried and Me, La Dispute, Black Dahlia Murder, Every Time I Die, and Wilson have graced the Dirt Fest stages. This year's lineup includes Killswitch Engage, Powerman 5000, Nonpoint, SID of Slipknot, Chimaira, Gemini Syndrome, Hed PE, Like A Storm, Smile Empty Soul, Nothing More, Tantric, Sleepwave, Framing Hanley, Eyes Set to Kill, Blue Felix, Gift Giver, Psychostick, Arcanium, Murder FM, Critical Bill, Beyond Threshold, It Lies Within, Sunflower Dead, Nuisance,Through the Ashes, Saint Ridley, Flood of Souls, Bridge to Grace, Flood of Souls, The Preserving Promise, First Decree, Deveraux, Hour 24, 1876, Know Lyfe, Sydetrakt, The Second System, Shudder, Switchblade Scarlett, The Finale, Dystopian I, Brody and the Bush Rd. Trio, Cadre, At Oceans Depth, The Mighty Swine, Bulletproof Snow, This is Life This is Living, Hell Rides North, Martyr for Madison, Sins in Stereo, Black Flower Blossom, Autumn Coma, Vicariant, Immoralist, Kissing Candice, Fides In Us, Drawn to Fury, Hail to the King, and Kougaran.
Michigan will also be well represented this year. Battlecross, Beast in the Field, Ana, Braided Veins, and Aim Your Arrows are all on the bill.
I usually pack a cooler of goodies, including fresh fruit, sandwiches, and water. I bring lots of sunblock, a few glow in the dark toys, and an extra pair of shoes. The best part about this festival is that once you're in the door, you are free to go to and from your car throughout the day. This means if you buy a shirt or a new record, you do not have to carry it around with you. It's a festival without all the other bullshit that other festivals throw at you. There are useable bathrooms, there are places to park, the food and drinks are not way over priced, and the tickets are only $35 with everything included.
VIP tickets are already sold out, but regular tickets are still available for purchase here.
Doors open at Noon and the event is rain or shine. The Birch Run Expo Center is located at 11600 N. Beyer Rd., Birch Run, MI 48415. All ages are welcome to attend the festival. You can download this year's schedule here.
Christie and I will be there all day! If you see these two beautiful faces come up, say hi, and get a HipInDetroit.com sticker or pin for FREE! We cant wait to spend another day getting dirty with all of you!
