The sun is going down earlier and the temperatures are dropping. Fall is officially here and the cold weather is quickly approaching. There are only a few more chances to get out there and enjoy the weather before the ground is covered with snow. The Palmer Park bike rides are a prefect way to capture the last glimpses of summer.
This particular group rides on Thursdays through October. They meet inside the Palmer Park parking lot off of Merrill Plaisance (north of 6 Mile and near the building with the colorful circles) at 6:30 p.m. and start riding at 7 p.m. They ride through the trails in the historic forest, around the periphery of the park, through the historic Palmer Park Apartment District, Golf Club community, and other beautiful neighborhoods with great architecture that surround the park. Its a great way to see the city and get outside after a long day at work. It is FREE to ride with the group and helmets and lights are encouraged. Don't forget to wear bright clothing, as the sun will be setting towards the end of the ride. The group does about 8-10 miles each week at a slow steady pace.
If you have questions about the event you can follow the ride on Facebook here. Biking is taking over the city and we could not be happier about it. Get out there and own the last days of sun!
