The weather this week has been a bit on the chilly side, in case you haven't noticed. It seems like winter is finally here. Why not take advantage of this cold weather and use it as a reason to warm up with a drink? Check out our top 5 places in Detroit (& Hamtramck) to warm up with a tasty adult beverage on these cold winter nights.
Grand Trunk Pub: This is one of the most beautiful and coolest bars in Detroit. You may have also heard it referred to as Foran's. Whatever you want to call it, this is always a great place to sit and chat with friends over a drink or two. This actually used to be the ticket station for the Grand Trunk Railroad. So, the building itself is super cool and different than other bars in the city. Plus, they feature a ton of Michigan beers, which is always a plus. They are open 'til 2 a.m every night, they serve food until Midnight, and they have some great happy hours and events. You can check those out here.
The Garden Bowl: Some people just head to the Majestic when there's a show they want to see. Well, the Garden Bowl is always open and is a great place to grab a beer any night of the week. There are always good tunes playing and there's usually a familiar face behind the bar. You can spark up a conversation with anyone in the place or sit and people watch out the window onto Woodward. Chances are you will either run into a friend or two while you are there or maybe you'll even make a new friend. One of our favorite places around. And, you can grab a slice from Sgt. Pepperoni's while you are there! 4140 Woodward Ave., Detroit 48201
Woodbridge Pub: If you're feeling just slightly fancy, you might want to head to Woodbridge Pub. They have a great menu, a wide variety of drinks, and the decor is a lot nicer than most of your corner bars. They also have great specials every night of the week and they have board games too! Plus, it is the home of Slow Jams every Monday night. 5169 Trumbull, Detroit 48208
The Painted Lady: Great juke box, cheap strong drinks, tacos, pierogies. What's there not to love? It's not too big, but nearly every time I'm there I see someone I know. We don't have much more to say. But, it's always a good time. 2930 Jacob, Hamtramck 48212
Small's: If you don't already know, this is one of our favorite places to see a show. Well, it is also one of our favorite places to grab a drink. Best bartenders around, and if you are lucky enough to get into a conversation with Mike, it's always a treat. They're only open Wednesday thru Saturday and a lot of nights they have events going on. But, just keep an eye on their Facebook page to find out when you can head in and what specials they have going on. 10339 Conant, Hamtramck 48212
It's very easy to become a hermit this time of year and bury yourself in a pile of blankets. Well we just gave you 5 reasons to head out, no matter what day of the week it is!
