Hip In Detroit's 3rd Anniversary will Make Your Head Explode!!!

It's hard to believe that it has been three years since we started Hip In Detroit. At the same time, it's even harder to believe that we have only been doing this for three years. It's crazy to think about all of the people we have met, the shows we have been to, and the places we have been to in the past few years. Detroit has changed immensely in what is a relatively short period of time. More stores and restaurants are popping up, more bands are hitting the scene, and abandoned buildings are getting multi-million dollar overhauls. There is so much going on in Detroit and Metro Detroit these days.  We're just lucky enough to cover a small part of it.

When we first started Hip In Detroit three years ago, we had a few goals in mind. We wanted to show Detroit in a way that we didn't see many other outlets highlighting it. We wanted to let people know about all of the great things to do and see around here. But mainly, we wanted to support the Detroit music scene and help bring the music community together again. It's a lot of work, and sometimes we wonder why we still do it. But, everyday we are reminded in one way or another why we are. We see a lineup for a show that we just can't wait to tell people about. We see what was a staple in this city closing it's doors. We hear talk of an awesome new restaurant being opened by a friend of a friend. We see a Detroit band touring the country, hitting big stages, and "making it". We're driving around the city and see something that wasn't there yesterday. The list is endless. We just truly love Detroit and the people that make it such an awesome place.

In celebration of 3 years of Hip In Detroit and everything that is in fact hip in Detroit, we are ready to bring all of these people we love together for one giant bash! That's right, it is time for the Hip In Detroit 3rd Anniversary Bash and we want to see all of your faces there! The date is set for Saturday, February 21st at Small's in Hamtramck, one of our absolute favorite places, and the lineup... well let's just say, it's going to make your head explode! Since one of our goals is to bring the Detroit music scene together, that is exactly what we are doing with this show. We are bringing together some fucking amazing musicians, from a few different genres, all ready to party! This year's lineup includes Her Dark Host, Radio Burns, James Linck, My Pal Val, Zander Michigan, Snakewing, Deastro and DJ Christopher Jarvis. These are all bands and musicians that we absolutely love and that have really stuck out to us over the past few years, whether they were just hitting the scene or they were reuniting. It's going to make for a super fun night and we're setting up two stages at Small's, so the music can just keep going.

On top of the great music, we wanted to highlight some of the amazing businesses and people in Metro Detroit. So, the best way to do that is to get their goods in your hands and their names out there. We are excited to give away some amazing prize packs to our show goers this year! With paid admission to the party, everyone will receive a raffle ticket that could have them walking out the door with some awesome stuff!
