If we've learned nothing else from widespread popularity of 50 Shades of Grey it's that we all have a dirty side. Well, that's nothing new to Detroit's Dirty Show. They have been celebrating that dirty side of all of us for years now.
The Dirty Show is an "International Erotic Art Exhibition". It features art from all sorts of mediums, ranging from paintings to performance art. The exhibits may seem a bit racy to some, but the people behind the Dirty Show maintain their stance that this exhibit is 100% art and not pornography. They say, "We have done extensive research on porn, logging in countless hours on the internet- we know porn, intimately. While some pieces, to the layman, may appear to be pornographic, it is as artistic as any shit you would see in a museum." Whatever you want to call it, it is important to go into the show with an open mind, you might see some things you never have before and you might like it.
This year the Dirty Show is being held at the Russell Exhibition Center located at 1600 Clay St. in Detroit. It kicks off on Thursday, February 12th with a super SOLD OUT special preview engagement featuring John Waters. It then runs through this weekend (February 13-15) and again next weekend (February 20 & 21). You can pick up your tickets in advance here, and we suggest you do as it is common for this event to sell out. Tickets are $30 in advance and 21+ are welcome.
