The cold weather is finally breaking just in time for the Detroit St. Patrick's Day Parade. That's right, believe it our not, it's already time for green beer and Irish cheer!
This year marks the 57th annual Detroit St. Patrick's Parade. It will take place this Sunday, March 15th in Corktown along Michigan Avenue. It is set to kick off at Noon and although it isn't going to be quite as warm as some of the days this week, it is supposed to be 46 degrees and just partly cloudy.
In conjunction with the parade many of the venues and bars along Michigan will be hosting parties and events. A couple of the best parties in town are at Corktown Tavern and PJ's Lager House. Corktown Tavern has a kick ass show featuring Ryan Dillaha & The Miracle Men, The Beggars, Howling Diablos and Eddie Spaghetti from The Supersuckers! They will also have a heated tent outside the tavern with food and drinks. The fun starts there at 8 in the morning. Down the street, PJ's Lager House will also have music all day long! Doors open there at 10 a.m. with Stone Clover and Bill Grogan's Goat holding down the fort.
Pretty much everywhere along Michigan Ave. will have a party going on this weekend. So throw on some green garb, head down to Corktown, and just walk up and down the street to see what you find! Whether you spend the day on the curb watching the parade or bouncing from bar to bar, Parade Day in Detroit is always a great time!
