Grand Opening of Clawson Skate Park

It's finally here! The Clawson Skate Park is finally opening! We told you about the grass roots effort to build an awesome skate park in Clawson City Park a few months ago. The group behind the Clawson Skate Park Project worked their butts off to plan, host fundraising events, and raise money just so everyone could have a great new spot to skate in Metro Detroit. Well their hard work was all worth it because this Sunday, August 9th the park is having its official grand opening celebration!

This Saturday's festivities will include New Skater "How-To" clinics, demonstrations, food trucks, music and more! The demonstrations will feature Pat Galloway, Mikey Waite, Brent Behm and Alex Knox and lessons will be provided by PLUSkateboarding, located in Farmington. They will also be hosting a competition at the event. There will be DJ sets by Mr. Pickles and Farenheit Temperature 2040. Hippie's Pizza, Kona Ice, Woodpile BBQ Shack and Comfort Cruzine will all be on site serving up their delicious eats and there will be a skate shop set up on site. At the end of all of the demos and festivities, there will be an open skate session starting at 4:30 p.m. For a full schedule of events, click here.

The Clawson Skate park was built by Evergreen Skateparks, and judging by the sneak peak above, it looks pretty awesome. Even though neither of us skate, we can't wait to go check this park out!
