Did you know that Saturday Morning Cartoons no longer exist? Last year officially marked the first Saturday in over 50 years that there were no Saturday Morning Cartoons on network television. Sure, there are actual channels dedicated to cartoons now, but what about those kids that don't have cable? They don't have the pleasure of lazing around in their pajamas on Saturday morning watching shows like Bobby's World, Eek! The Cat, Tiny Toons or even Garfield while stuffing their face with sugary cereal.
Well this Saturday morning, October 10th, the cartoons will return! Well at least at UFO Factory they will. UFO Factory along with John Krautner and Stephen Nawara will be showing some of your favorite classic cartoons all morning long. This is a FREE event to attend and there will even be cereal available, as well as adult breakfast beverages like Mimosas and Bloody Mary's... make that BOTOMLESS Bloody Mary's! This sounds even better than Saturday mornings were when we were kids!
Since hangovers didn't really exist when we were wee ones and kids all tend to wake up at the ass crack of dawn no matter what, it wasn't a big deal to wake up and start watching 'toons at about 7 or 8 a.m. Well things are a little different now that we're "grown-ups" and the organizers understand that you want to at least try to sleep in a bit on your day off or try to sleep off the night before. So they pushed the cartoons back to a start time of 11 a.m. Late enough that you probably won't have to set an alarm, but early enough that you can show up in your jammies and probably not get judged. We can't think of a better way to start off a Saturday!
UFO Factory is located at 2110 Trumbull in Detroit. For more info on this event, click here.
