This Friday, December 11th The Monster Drawing Rally will return to MOCAD. This annual event is a great way to pick up some unique one of a kind art while helping raise money for charity.
The event gathers 35 of Detroit's best artists together to draw some one of a kind pieces right in front of attendees eyes. You can watch a piece be created and then purchase it with a portion of the proceeds going to charity. Each artist sits down for a one hour shift and starts drawing. Once they complete a piece, it goes up for sale for about $40, a low price for a one of kind piece of art.
Proceeds from the night support the programs that MOCAD runs throughout the year, so basically everyone wins!
Food and drinks for the night will be provided by Café 78 and Pink Flamingo. Music will be selected by DJ Billy Spencer. The show is $8 in advance and $10 at the door. You can also purchase a $100 membership and get into this event for FREE. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the first round of drawing will take place at 7 p.m. The second shift will begin at 8:30.
This year's artist lineup includes:
Hannah Chalew, Matt Dye, Shelby Murphy, Ouizi, Bridget Quinn, Corrie Baldauf, Max Majoros, Chelsea Schultz, Sunshaine Durant, Jennifer Belair, Mike Ross, Melissa Dettloff, Chris Riddell, Kia Arriaga, Lindy Shewbridge, Shaina Kasztelan, Rashaun Rucker, Derek Reitzel, Mary Fortuna, Cristin Richard, Brandon Christopher, Chris Reiley, and more.
