If you're in the mood for some outdoor winter fun this weekend, you have to head down to Campus Martius! The Meridian Winter Blast is taking place all weekend long, with festivities kicking off on Friday, February 12th at 11 a.m. This event is all about fun and giving back the community!
Admission to the event is based on donations. There are three different ways to get in to the blast. You can either donate 3 canned food items, 1 children's book, or donate $2 cash that will go to Matrix Human Services. In addition to donating to a good cause for entrance to the event, there is also a program going on called Sing, Skate, Slide for Flint. This means that proceeds from many of the attractions at the festival will be going to help the residents of Flint through the Flint Child Health & Development Fund. Plus, the funds raised will be matched by Meridian Health Care up to $40,000! For more info on this great program, click here.
Some of the attractions at this year's Winter Blast include a 200 foot snow slide, an ice sculpture garden, a zip line down Woodward Ave., figure skating, dog sledding, and more! In addition to the fun outside, there will also be activities going on inside tents throughout Campus Martius, like live music, story telling and entertainment for kids, and great food! Some of the local restaurants that will be serving up eats on site are Slows To Go, Revolver, El Barzon, and Hudson Cafe. The live music that you can check out includes bands like Tart, Bronze Mambas, Nina & The Buffalo Riders, Oak City Roots, and many more! To see a full list of performers, click here.
