This Sunday, August 14th Black Iris Booking is bringing ska back to Detroit! Reggaecore legends The Pilfers will be playing at El Club in Detroit alongside Matt Wixson's Flying Circus, J. Navarro and the Traitors and Leaving Lifted. This lineup promises to get all the punk kids dancing!
In case you don't already know this, J. Navarro and the Traitors is one of the coolest little hidden gems in Detroit. Jason Navarro is the front man for a few of our favorite local bands, including Hellmouth, Break Anchor and the legendary Suicide Machines. Eric Abbey is the brains behind the multi award winning 1592. J. Navarro and the Traitors is the brain child of these two boys finally teaming up on a project together. The band has managed to fly under the radar for the last year or so, so we are glad to see them playing with such a fun band.
Matt Wixson's Flying Circus is also another great local that seems to fall under everyone's radar. They recently released a new album called About Time that you should check out before the show so you have a great reason to go early and catch everyone!
Tickets to attend this Sunday's show are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. You can also win a pair of tickets to the show by emailing your full name to hipindetroit@gmail.com with the subject line #skank. We will draw one lucky winner the morning of the show and will email them details on how to claim their prize.
