To capitalize on the momentum from the March on Washington the organizers behind the event announced that they will be putting together a series of actions to take place during the new President's first hundred days. The first action was the march, the second was letter writing, and the third takes place on March 8th, International Women's Day.
The next action was announced about a week ago and it is a call for a day without women. It is a three part action that includes:
1) Women taking the day off, from paid and unpaid labor.
2) Everyone shall avoid shopping for one day (with exceptions for small, women and minority owned businesses).
3) Everyone should wear RED in solidarity with A Day Without A Woman.
We recognize that many of us cannot afford the luxury of taking the day off, so we wanted to help you show your support by putting together a list of great female and minority owned businesses in Metro Detroit that you can support.
