This Sunday, October 1st, 3.5 miles of Michigan Avenue in Detroit will close down for the day. Detroiters are encouraged to come out and enjoy the space to roam around and get moving. This event, called Open Streets Detroit, was created to get the community out and about to engage in some physical activity and to interact with each other. Attendees are encouraged to bring their bikes, skateboards or running shoes to get out and move around the open streets. All of the businesses in Corktown will be open for the event and there will be tons of places to sit down and take a break if you get tired. A lot of the stores and the restaurants in the area are even running specials for the day! To learn more about open streets Detroit and which streets will be closed click here.
