This weekend Detroit's own Protomartyr is releasing their new album! To celebrate the big release, they have teamed up with Party Store Productions to put on one of the most kick ass release parties ever. It's on a boat! You read that right! Protomartyr is going big for this one. They are taking over the Detroit Princess, a riverboat cruise ship on the Detroit River, to throw one hell of a party! The lineup for the evening will include Protomartyr (of course), METZ, ADULT., Preoccupations and Tyvek.
Protomartyr's new album is entitled Relatives In Descent. This is the fourth full length for the band. The release date is actually September 29th, but attendees of the show will have a chance to pick up the record a week early. Get a feel for the new record by checking out the music video for "A Private Understanding" below. You can also give another track, "My Children", a listen here.

Protomartyr's release show is happening this Friday, September 22nd. Tickets for the show start at $15 and can be purchased in advance here. You can also pick up tickets fee free at El Club in Southwest Detroit. Thanks to Party Store Productions, we are also giving away a pair of tickets to this show! To enter to win those tickets, send your name to hipindetroit@gmail.com with #boat in the subject line. We will draw one lucky winner on Friday morning and they will get into the party for free that night.
After the ship has sailed, there is also an awesome after party over at El Club. Pissed Jeans, Deadbeat Beat and Connections will be playing. Cover for this event is only $8 and you can pick your tickets up here. If you're going to the party on the Princess, admission will only be $5 at the door with your ticket stub. For more info on the after party, head over to the Facebook event here.
This is going to be an awesome event that we're sure people will be talking about for year's to come! Don't miss it!
