March is Women's History Month and today, March 8, 2018, is International Women's Day, a day to celebrate how far women have come while recognizing how far we have to go. In the era of #metoo and #timesup we hear a lot of allies asking how they can help support women. So after some thought and a lot of linking here are two ways that we can think we can all do that.
1. Support Minorities - Gloria Steinem paid a visit to Wayne State this week and she reminded us that "Racism will not end without ending sexism and sexism will not end without ending racism." If you want to support women, support minority rights.
2. Spend Your Money with Women - Wu Tang Clan said its best so why try to say it any better. "Cash rules everything around me, C.R.E.A.M. Get the money, dollar dollar bill, y'all". Spend your money at female owned businesses whenever you can. You don't even have to go out of your way to do that. All of the businesses below are located in or around Metro Detroit and all of them are owned and operated by women. If you want to support women, show them the money!
