It has been three years since Speedy Ortiz released an album, but there is a good reason for that. Mainly, the band wrote and scrapped an entire album in between 2015's Foil Deer and their recently released third album Twerp Verse. When asked why they scrapped the album, singer/song writer Sadie Dupuis stated, “The songs on the [scrapped] album that were strictly personal or lovey dovey just didn’t mean anything to me anymore”. So, she started over and waited till she found what she wanted to say before she said it. This new album is a reflection of her thoughts as she changes and grows as an artist.
Speedy is now on tour in support of their new album and they will be making a stop to perform in Detroit this Sunday, May 13th at El Club. Tickets to attend the show are $13 in advance and $15 the day of the show. We also have a pair of tickets to give away to attend with a friend for free.
