Red Bull House of Art is one of Detroit's greatest assets. The art gallery and community space has helped catapult the city's artistic community to all new levels. They have also helped to bring in new artists from all over the world to express themselves after spending a little time in our city. It seems like every time they open their doors, they have something new and innovative to share with all of us. In fact, this Sunday's one day only gallery is seeking to take you into a whole new world.
This Sunday's show is called Rejecting Reality. It will use music and visual art to take you outside of your usual reality. Architect Aaron Jones created custom-designed elements that will be paired with musical performances by composer/performer Pamela Z. and Detroit’s own Onyx Ashanti, who has developed his own instrument called the "beatjazz music machine". Together these artists are trying to create an "escape mission" that "will defamiliarize the familiar through unconventional relationships in music, self, and infrastructure".
The world altering show/performance will only take place one time. Onyx rarely performs live and the gallery has to get ready for the next artist. So, if you want to experience something special that will literally be gone before your friends can check their Instagram stories, stop by RBHOA from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. this Sunday and throw yourself into another dimension. All ages and all people are welcome to attend the show at RBHOA, which is located in the heart of the Eastern Market. For directions click here.
