It's been over eight months since Como's officially closed it's doors. Since then the indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant at the corner of Nine Mile and Woodward was sold to Peas & Carrots Hospitality, the owners and operators of a variety of well known restaurants, including Social Kitchen & Bar in Birmingham. After taking ownership of the space, they stated that they would one day once again be serving up pizzas inside the space and possibly even sticking with the name, but they never gave us any more insight into what the future might hold. Then, one day a few weeks ago, a psychedelic sign popped on the corner. The sign read FOMOS and gave pop up summer hours for a new outdoor bar that would be temporarily taking over the space.
The temporary pop-up takes place from 6 p.m. until 2 a.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays for the next few weeks. The patio features a variety of cocktails that are meant to be enjoyed outdoors, but they do not offer any food at this time. They are however trying to gain a little attention and get you over to their dance floor by hosting a weekly DJ night called Sexual Tension Detroit or STD. The first edition of this weekly event will take place tonight and features Scott Zacharias (No Way Back/Macho City), Ryan Spencer (Freakish Pleasure), and Jerry Downey (Big Beat Records NYC). There is no cover to come play and 21+ over are welcome. This is your first chance to get a sneak peak at the recent renovations and to see what the future might hold for this space.
