This Saturday, October 13th, The Redford Theatre has a special, eerie evening planned. The historic theatre will be playing The Phantom of The Opera with live organ music. This 1925 adaptation of the book Le Fantôme de l'Opéra, is a silent film. It was directed by Rupert Julian and stars Lon Chaney, whose grim makeup was iconic in this film. This adaptation of the classic is much different than the musical that you have seen on stage, and the addition of the live organ music is sure to give you goosebumps.
The Phantom of The Opera will be shown at 8 p.m. on Saturday evening. Tickets for this show are $15 and can be purchased in advance here. Organist Christian Elliott will provide the soundtrack for the evening on The Redford's classic Barton organ. Make sure you stop by the lobby before or after the film too, where there will be great Phantom merchandise available along with other horror film and pop-culture memorabilia.
The Redford Theatre is located at 17360 Lahser Road, Detroit, MI 48219. Doors to the theatre open one hour prior to showtime. For more information on this showing, the theatre, and to see a list of upcoming shows, click here.
