Hip hop and Pop music might rule the airwaves, but that doesn't mean that punk is dead. Punk is alive and well in the bars and clubs that created the genre and it is there for everyone who wants to find it. A new generation of punks is carrying the torch and celebrating the fuck you attitude that created bands like The Ramones, Black Flag, and The Stooges. This Saturday, March 23rd the Lager House will welcome the Detroit Anarchy Festival to Detroit for the second year in a row. This year's festival will include performances by The 3-D Invisibles. The Zotz, The Seatbelts, SCREW, The Strains, Suburban Bloodshed and Bathroom of the Future. It will also feature clothing and goods from Rock N Rummage (Memorabilia) and Cuddly Creaturez (Collectible Dolls). Artist Whitney Nickel will have her work on display and Lolly Paige will be reading tarot cards.
Tickets to attend the punk fest will be $8 in advance and $10 at the door. We also have one pair of passes to giveaway to one lucky reader. This is an all ages show so all ages are allowed to enter to win. We would love to see some young punks get to go to the show! If you would like to enter, please email your full name to hipindetroit@gmail.com with the subject line #punkrock. We will draw one lucky winner on Saturday morning and they will get to attend Saturday night's show with a friend for free.
