Go Camping on the Dequindre Cut!

If you want to go camping sometime this summer, but you're not sure where you want to pitch your tent, look no further than Detroit! This June, the Dequindre Cut Freight Yard will host Camping on the Cut! For those that don't know, the Dequindre Cut is a walking and biking path that stretches from the Detroit Riverfront to Eastern Market. Near the end of the cut, you will find the Dequindre Cut Freight Yard, featuring shipping containers that house drinks, pop-up shops, and more. On Saturday June 1st, the Cut will also be home to 75 camp sites for the night.

Camping on the Cut is an adult only camping experience that will feature food trucks, bonfires, s'mores, a midnight bike ride, yoga, lawn games, coffee, brunch, live music and more. The live music portion is extra impressive because this event will actually be the home of this year's WhateverFest! In its ninth year, this is a new location for the fest that was previously held at venues like Trumbullplex and Tangent Gallery. Although the lineup hasn't been announced yet for this year, it is always stellar! The music portion of Camping on the Cut will take place from Noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday and then after 10, only the campers are allowed.

If this sounds like a good time to you, the time to sign up is now! As we mentioned, only 75 camp sites are available, but each site is allowed to have up to 10 people. The cost is $25 per person, plus extra for brunch if you want to participate in that. To sign up for your campsite, count how many people are in your crew and click here. Although this event is a couple of months away, the campsites won't last long!
