Hip in Detroit's Picks for the Weekend: August 20 - 22

Friday, August 20th - Haute to Death @ Marble Bar: Get dressed to the nines and get ready to dance the night away with Haute to Death this Friday night! The team will be taking over the patio at Marble Bar from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m., so get there early or stay late, just make sure you're there! Proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test within 48 hours is required. 21+ are welcome and cover is $5. Guarantee that you'll get in the door by buying your ticket ahead of time here

Friday, August 20th - Cheapshow @ The Pleasant Underground w/ Melba Jean, The Overlooked (OH), and Galaxy News Radio (IN): There's nothing like a house show and this Friday night The Pleasant Underground has an awesome show lined up! Cheapshow will be playing along with Melba Jean, The Overlooked from Ohio, and Galaxy News Radio from Indiana. There will also be tacos available if you get hungry, with options for vegans, vegetarians, & omnivores. There's a suggested $10 cover to get in and if you want to know where it is, message the venue or one of the bands for the address. 


Saturday, August 21st - Summer Saturdays in Midtown: Sadly, Summer is winding down and this Saturday is your last chance to celebrate the season with your favorite businesses in Midtown. This Saturday will be the last Summer Saturday in Midtown of the season and they are making it the biggest and best one yet! There will be live music in the streets and great specials at the stores and restaurants. Click here to see a list of all of the happenings. 


Saturday, August 21st - Clawson Fest: The first ever Clawson Fest will take place this Saturday evening in downtown Clawson! The fest will take over the parking lot behind the old Clawson Grill and will feature live music, shopping, and great food. The tunes will be provided by Oak City Roots and Bad Camper from California. Some of the businesses that will be set up on site include Whisky Taco Foxtrot, Downtown Charlies, Zeolis, Pumachug, Flipside, and Cultivate Art. Admission to the fest is free and this is a family friendly event. Things kick off at 5 p.m. and go until 9:30.


Sunday, August 21st - Hug Detroit Day: This Sunday is the 9th annual Hug Detroit Day, a day dedicated to celebrating and honoring the talented and resilient citizens of Motown. Events will be taking place throughout the city, including a School Supply Giveaway with Frugal on the Fly at Arts & Scraps with a DJ, crafts, food, and vendors, live jazz and a backpack drive at Woodbridge Pub, live music at the Vanguard Community Development Center, and even a presentation of The Vagina Monologues at Artist Village.
