Gen Z is proving that everything old can be new again. They also reminded us that nothing goes out of style, you just have to hold onto it long enough to wear it again when that look comes back around. In a world where fast fashion has turned single-use into the norm, it's refreshing to see the next generation not just dressing for Instagram, but instead buying quality pieces that will be around for decades. They have realized that global warming and landfills full of Forever 21 are simply less appealing than a perfect 80's dress that can be remixed and reworked to look chic and stylish. The only problem is that not all of us have the time to go on on the hunt.
Thankfully, a new secondhand space in Berkeley called
Reware Vintage can put the work in for you. Not only can you sell some of your well-preserved "vintage" pieces (think Levi's, Doc Martens, and band tees), you can find something "new" and special without creating more waste. Reware specializes in pop culture and rare. The owner Beth Nixon works hard to find unique and well-preserved items that she knows that you are looking for so you don't have to go out and do the digging. They also have their own line of handmade record earrings and a complete kids' corner to get the little ones looking for secondhand first from the start.
The shop is currently open from 12-4 p.m. on Wednesdays, 12 - 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturdays. They buy during the week and are willing to chat with anyone that has a lot of something special that they want to sell.
