Palmer Park Welcomes a Free WinterFest to the Park this Weekend

After almost two years inside our homes, we are looking for any reason to get out and gather, especially if we can keep it extra safe by staying outdoors and keeping some distance between ourselves and others. Those are two things that you should easily be able to do at Palmer Park's WinterFest this weekend, February 11th-13th. This family-friendly festival is the perfect reason to get the whole gang out of the house and it makes a great pre-Valentine's Day date for lovers celebrating the season. This first-year festival will feature an array of attractions, including ice skating, snowshoeing, sledding, figure skating, dance performances, arts and crafts, horse and carriage rides, live DJs, a variety of live entertainment including local choirs and bands, and food trucks. There will also be a warming tent with hot cocoa. The best part is that it is entirely free to attend and participate in all of the fun activities thanks to the People of Palmer Park and Big Daddy Dan a.k.a. Bedrock Detroit

The festival will run from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday. There will be shuttles available to and from the festival from Adams Butzel Complex, Patton Recreation Center, Kemeny Recreation Center, and Heilmann Recreation Center. Palmer Park is located at 910 Merrill Plaisance St. The WinterFest activities will take place on the east side of the park between the shelter and tennis courts.
