Sydney G. James' Five Must See Detroit Murals

Sydney G. James is one of our favorite Detroit artists. She is also the brains behind the BLKOUT Walls Festival, a mural festival that champions racial diversity among the artists who participate. This makes her the perfect person to chat about Detroit's black art scene with Speedy Morman on his new Facebook Show “On The Map”. This new community-inspired travel series has Morman meeting "young creators who are defining the culture of their cities across the country". Sheefy McFly, Asmaa Walton (founder of Black Art Library), and Roula David (founder of multi-medium creative hub Spot Lite Bar) will also be featured in the Detroit episode. 

In honor of her big feature, we asked Sydney to tell us what her five must-see Detroit murals are. Check out what she selected below and take a drive to see all these murals up close and personal.
