A New Foodie Gem in Pontiac: Exploring the Menu and Atmosphere at Dogwood's Kitchen & Bar

Hey Metro Detroit foodies, have you heard about the new spot in Pontiac that everyone's buzzing about? It's called Dogwood's Kitchen & Bar, and it's the brainchild of Chef Oscar Gonzalez. For Oscar, cooking isn't just about creating delicious meals, it's about bringing people together and fostering a sense of community. This philosophy is evident in every aspect of the restaurant, from the menu to the atmosphere.

Growing up, Oscar's grandmother instilled in him a love for fresh ingredients and the joy of sharing meals with loved ones. For her, food was the centerpiece of everything they did. She even had a special love for the Dogwood tree, which she saw as a symbol of shelter, gatherings, and a place where many could come together to enjoy a meal. It's this same spirit of community and hospitality that Oscar hopes to embody in Dogwood's Kitchen & Bar.

The menu at Dogwood's is a true reflection of Oscar's passion for fresh ingredients and delicious food. They have a wide variety of options, including mouth-watering burgers, crisp salads, savory flatbreads, and appetizers that are perfect for sharing with friends. And if you're looking for vegan options, they've got you covered with delicious dishes like fresh guacamole and a flavorful veggie wrap. During our visit, we tried the guac, fries, veggie wrap, buffalo flatbread, and mac & cheese with bacon, and all of them were a hit.
One of the highlights of the restaurant is the cocktail menu, which is full of creative and fun drinks. We highly recommend trying the Snatched, which is served with cotton candy that melts when you pour the drink over it. They also have an impressive mocktail menu for those who prefer to skip the alcohol.

But it's not just the food and drinks that make Dogwood's Kitchen & Bar stand out - it's the atmosphere. The restaurant has a cool and casual vibe, with plenty of seating and an indoor-outdoor patio that's perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or a casual date night. And to top it all off, they play great music - during our visit, they had Beyonce blasting the whole time!

Overall, Dogwood's Kitchen & Bar is a must-visit for any foodie in Metro Detroit. Whether you're looking for a fun night out with friends or a casual dinner with your significant other, this restaurant has everything you need. So what are you waiting for? Go check out Dogwood's Kitchen & Bar today and see what all the fuss is about!

Shop Secondhand First: Reware Vintage Hosts T-Shirts for the Climate Fundraiser for Earth Day Weekend to Support Climate Change Organizations

Reware Vintage, a vintage clothing store in Berkley, Michigan, is hosting an Earth Day weekend fundraiser to raise money for two climate change organizations: Clean Air Task Force and 350.org. The event, called T-shirts for the Climate, will be a $10 T-shirt sale featuring new, used, and vintage shirts donated by the store and its customers.

All proceeds from the T-shirt sales will be donated to the Clean Air Task Force, which is working to decarbonize the global energy system. Additionally, 10% of all other in-store sales during the event will be donated to 350.org, a grassroots organization fighting climate change.

Reware Vintage specializes in casual vintage clothing for men, women, and kids, and takes pride in supporting a more earth-friendly, circular market. The store uses only compostable and recyclable packaging, tags, and other supplies.

"We want to do more for the next generation," said owner Bethany Nixon. "For Earth Day weekend, we're happy to support two groups doing great work in the fight against climate change. Last year we raised $700 for the groups we were supporting, this year we're looking to raise even more!"

The T-shirts for the Climate sale will take place on Earth Day Weekend - Friday, April 22nd, 12-8 p.m., Saturday, April 23rd from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, April 24th, 12-4 p.m., in the Reware Vintage storefront. The store is also still collecting T-shirt donations for the sale.
If you're interested in donating, you can drop off your T-shirts at the store located at 2965 12 Mile Rd. from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 12-8 p.m. on Fridays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturdays, and 12-4 p.m. on Sundays.

By supporting Reware Vintage's T-shirts for the Climate event, you're not only helping to raise money for important climate change organizations, but also making a greener choice as a consumer. Choose vintage or used clothing, and you'll save water and energy resources while reducing your carbon footprint. Or as we like to say, shop secondhand first!
