Detroit Women of Comedy Festival Showcases Local and National Talent with Diverse Perspectives

The Detroit Women of Comedy Festival is back and ready to showcase a diverse range of comedic talent! Taking place on May 19th and 20th at the Planet Ant Theatre and the Independent Comedy Club in Hamtramck, the festival promises to be a dynamic and inclusive event for all.

Since its inception in 2018, the Detroit Women of Comedy Festival has been committed to honoring and elevating marginalized voices across a spectrum of genders and identities. With over 50 acts across 2 stages, the festival features a range of comedy styles, including improv, stand-up, sketch, podcasts, alt-comedy, and workshops.

The festival's headliners include stand-up comedian Kate Willett, improv duo Bottle of Red, stand-up comedian Roni Shanell, stand-up comedian COCO, and improv troupe Improvised Jane Austen. These talented performers represent just a small fraction of the incredible talent that will be showcased at the festival, as they will be joined by more than 50 talented performers from both Detroit and across North America.

In addition to platforming marginalized voices in comedy, the Detroit Women of Comedy Festival is also dedicated to supporting the local community. Proceeds from the festival will directly support Detroit-based non-profits providing arts education and services for at-risk populations. This year's beneficiaries are the Ruth Ellis Center, Detroit Creativity Project, and Planet Ant.

The Detroit Women of Comedy Festival is a celebration of creativity and community that should not be missed. Tickets and more information are available now at detroitwomenofcomedy.com. Come out and join them for a weekend of laughter, joy, and community-building.
