We already told you about Detroit X Detroit! Here are some other fun things happening this weekend.
Saturday, April 22nd - Record Store Day - This Saturday is Record Store Day and shops all around town will be packed. Most will have special Record Store Day releases and some will have giveaways, but there are two stores whose festivities stuck out to us. First up, Village Vinyl in Warren will be celebrating six years along with RSD. They will have free giveaways to the first 30 customers with purchase, additional giveaways & free snacks throughout the day, 20% OFF select items, 10% OFF everything else (excluding RSD exclusives and dollar bin). Plus head across the street with your receipt after you shop and get $1 off a beer at Kuhnhenn Brewery. Doors open at 8 a.m. Further over on the east side, Ripe Records in Grosse Pointe Park will be celebrating 5 years on this RSD. They will have a free pig roast with hot dogs & hamburgers too, plus live music. The lineup includes Eastside Still Alive, The Hourlies, and more. The fun starts at 10 a.m. and goes until 5 p.m. For a full list of Record Store Day Releases and participating stores, click here.
Saturday, April 22nd - Steve Harvey Oswald and The Lucid Furs @ Small's: This Saturday night, The Lucid Furs will hit the stage at Small's along with Steve Harvey Oswald, The Counter Elites, Angel of Mars, and The Wretched Sights. Cover to see these 5 great bands is only $5 for 21+ or $8 for 18+. All proceeds go to Passenger Recovery & the SIMS Foundation and there will also be an overdose rescue demonstration at 9 p.m. using Narcan. Doors open at 8 p.m.
Sunday, April 23rd - Meat Wave @ Outer Limits Lounge: Don't spend your Sunday night dreading Monday morning. Instead, spend the night having fun at a show! Outer Limits is bringing Meat Wave to town from Chicago and Kal Marks from Boston, plus Detroit's own Big Life will be there too! Doors open at 8 p.m. and $10 gets you in. Check out Big Life's EP that just dropped this week here.
Sunday, April 23rd - Earth Day Clean Up @ Palmer Park: This Sunday is Earth Day and if you're looking to show the planet a little love, there are clean up events scheduled all around town. One that stuck out to us is the Earth Day Clean Up at Palmer Park. Join the People of Palmer Park from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. for a park wide cleanup. There will also be a guided walk at noon and a Aziza Fairy Forest Treasure & Trash Hunt for families. To sign up to help, click here.
