Discover the Rich History and Exceptional Cuisine of the Lager House in Detroit's Corktown

Photos from the Lager House

The Lager House in Corktown is one of those gems that we often forget about, but every time we visit, we are pleasantly surprised. This historic establishment has been around for over a century and has a rich history. Prior to being renamed The Lager House in 1965, it was known as the Doemer Beer Garden, Doemer Brothers Tavern, and The Doemer Tavern. During Prohibition, it masqueraded as a furniture store, but the minute the 21st Amendment repealed Prohibition was passed, it emerged as a beer garden.

One of the things that makes the Lager House stand out is their extensive vegan options. The vegan tofu scramble with potatoes and bread is one of our favorites, but they also have plenty of other options to choose from. And if you're not vegan, they have non-vegan options as well, so there's something for everyone.

Aside from their brunch options, the Lager House also serves lunch and dinner, and their menu has a little something for everyone. The prices are reasonable, and they even have drink specials like the beer mimosa or the beermosa, which are perfect for a weekend brunch.

But it's not just the food and drinks that make the Lager House worth a visit; it's also their exceptional service. The friendly staff will make you feel right at home, whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor.

Overall, if you're looking for a unique dining experience with great food and service, the Lager House should definitely be on your list. With its rich history, extensive vegan options, and drink specials, you won't be disappointed. Next time you're in Corktown, be sure to stop by and see what all the fuss is about!
