Hip In Detroit's Picks for the Weekend: September 8-10

This weekend we are going to keep our picks short because there are two events that you won't want to miss!

Saturday, September 9th - Dally in the Alley: Music, art, food, and a whole lot of fun come to Cass Corridor this weekend for the 44th Annual Dally in the Alley! The event will take place from 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. on Saturday, September 9th and really has something for everyone. There will be five stages of live music spread throughout the event, with everything from indie to techno on the bill. Some of this year's acts that we are most excited about include Bad Magnets, Gusher, Shadow Show, and Summer Like The Season. Check out the full schedule here. Admission is free. Just head to the area of Second & Third between Forest & Hancock and you can't miss it! Get all of the details on this year's Dally here

Sunday, September 10th - Right On Fest @ Small's & The Sanctuary: Last month, the Detroit music scene lost a musician, supporter, and friend with the unexpected passing of Rob Cedar. Chances are, if you go to a lot of shows in Detroit, you at least knew of Rob if you weren't friends with him. This Sunday a bunch of his friends are coming together to celebrate his life, raise money for his family, and play some music at Right On Fest. The fest will feature 25 bands at two venues, Small's and The Sanctuary, as well as sets from the Heavy & Beyond DJs. Some of the bands on the bill include The Lucid Furs, Detroit 442, The Amino Acids, Midas, MRSA, and the return of Against the Grain. Cover is a $20 donation. There will also be raffles and some BBQ, so make sure you bring extra cash. The show starts at 2:30 p.m. with Death Cat at The Sanctuary and wraps up with Against the Grain hitting the stage at 10:45 p.m. at Small's. Check out the full schedule here. If you can't make it to the fest, but still want to help out Rob Cedar's family, donations can be made through Venmo (@Tammy-Elswick) or Cashapp ($thisgirltammie).
