Street Beet's Unbeatable Return: Detroit’s Favorite Vegan Pop-Up Reclaims Its Spot at Third Street Bar

If you're a fan of vegan eats in Detroit, you already know about Street Beet, the city’s most beloved vegan pop-up. We're thrilled to share that after a hiatus, Street Beet is making a grand comeback to the place where it all began—Third Street Bar. The timing couldn't be more perfect, as they'll be kicking off their return during Dally in the Alley on September 7th with a 12-hour service extravaganza from noon to midnight. And that's not all! The celebration continues the next day with a Sunday brunch from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., featuring a delicious all-vegan brunch menu and a few of their classic fan favorites.

Street Beet first burst onto the scene inside Third Street Bar in 2019, quickly gaining a loyal following with their creative and playful takes on fast food classics. Who could forget their legendary Crunchwrap? It's unmatched and has set the bar high for vegan comfort food in the city. After their original residency ended in 2022, many of us were left craving more. But now, founders Nina Paletta and Meghan Shaw are back, and they’ve got even bigger plans on the horizon, including the opening of their very own brick-and-mortar location in 2025.

This return marks an exciting new chapter for Street Beet, and it’s one you won’t want to miss. Whether you're a long-time fan or new to the scene, now’s the time to experience what everyone’s been raving about. Mark your calendars and get ready to dig into some of the best vegan food Detroit has to offer.

Get Ready for the 2024 Hamtramck Labor Day Festival: A Weekend of Music, Food, and Fun

One of the most anticipated events of the year, the Hamtramck Labor Day Festival, is back for its 44th annual celebration, and it promises to be bigger and better than ever! Taking place over three days—August 31st, September 1st, and September 2nd—this festival is the perfect way to wrap up your summer with a mix of live music, delicious food, thrilling rides, and all-around good vibes.

For over four decades, the streets of Hamtramck have come alive during Labor Day weekend, and this year is no exception. The festival takes over Joseph Campau, the city’s Main Street, turning it into a hub of activity that draws crowds from all over Metro Detroit. The best part? Admission is absolutely free, making it an accessible event for everyone.

What to Expect at the Festival

This year’s festival is packed with activities for all ages, ensuring that no one leaves without a smile on their face. Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • Live Music: With two stages set up, there’s no shortage of entertainment. From local bands to headliners, the festival showcases a diverse lineup of performers. But the big news? Jack White is set to take the stage with The Hentchmen on Monday, September 2nd! This performance is guaranteed to draw a massive crowd, so get there early if you want a good spot. Check out the full lineup for the weekend here

  • Carnival Rides: Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or looking for family-friendly fun, the festival’s carnival rides offer something for everyone. From classic carousels to adrenaline-pumping attractions, the rides add an extra layer of excitement to the weekend.

  • Food and Drinks: No festival is complete without an array of food options, and Hamtramck’s diverse culinary scene is well-represented here. Grab a bite from one of the many booths, featuring everything from local favorites to international flavors. And don’t miss out on the jello shots—because what’s a festival without a little fun?

  • Hamtramck Traditions: The festival wouldn’t be complete without the iconic yacht races down Joseph Campau, a beloved tradition that’s as quirky as it is entertaining. Plus, don’t miss the Hamtramck Labor Day Parade on Monday, September 2nd, where the community comes together to celebrate in style.

  • Wrestling: Get ready for some action! Wrestling matches are scheduled for Sunday, September 1st, and Monday, September 2nd, adding a unique flair to the festivities.

Why You Should Attend

The Hamtramck Labor Day Festival isn’t just an event—it’s a celebration of community, culture, and the spirit of Hamtramck. Whether you’re a longtime attendee or a first-time visitor, you’ll find something to love. The atmosphere is electric, the people are friendly, and the memories you’ll make are unforgettable.

With its blend of live music, food, entertainment, and local traditions, this festival truly has something for everyone. And with the addition of Jack White’s performance, it’s shaping up to be an unmissable event!

So mark your calendars, gather your friends and family, and head to Hamtramck for a Labor Day weekend you won’t forget. See you there!
