How to Vote in Michigan’s 2024 Elections


 Important Dates to Remember:

Voting Options:

  • Check your voter registration status: Visit Michigan’s voter information portal to confirm if you’re registered.
  • Absentee Voting: Any registered voter can request an absentee ballot, no reason needed! Apply online, by mail, or in person.
  • Early Voting: You can vote early in person between Oct. 26 – Nov. 3 by filling out an absentee ballot at your city or township clerk’s office. (Only available in some places
  • Voting at the Polls: On Election Day, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Bring a photo ID, such as your driver’s license or U.S. passport. Find where you vote here

How to Register to Vote:

  • Online: Use Michigan’s voter registration portal (valid until Oct. 21).
  • By Mail: Send in a voter registration form, postmarked by Oct. 21.
  • In Person: You can register at your city or township clerk’s office until 8 p.m. on Election Day (Nov. 5).

Absentee Ballot Info:

  • Request Deadline: Nov. 1 by 5 p.m. (mail/online), Nov. 4 by 4 p.m. (in-person).
  • Return Deadline: Absentee ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Nov. 5 (Election Day). You can return them by mail, at your city/township clerk’s office, or in a secure drop box.

Voting with a Disability:

Accessible voting options are available, including Voter Assist Terminals at every polling place. If you need help, you can bring someone to assist you.
