Baby, It’s Cold Outside: Ice Skating in Metro Detroit

Baby, it’s cold outside! But instead of staying bundled up indoors, why not embrace the chill? One of our favorite ways to enjoy Michigan winters is by heading outdoors for some ice skating. It’s the perfect way to get your heart rate up, enjoy the crisp winter air, and soak in a little vitamin D—especially if the sun’s out.

Metro Detroit is home to some fantastic outdoor rinks, and each one offers something unique. One of our personal favorites is the Dodge Park Ice Rink in Sterling Heights. It’s spacious, often features a food or coffee truck, has cozy fire pits, skate rentals, and a Zamboni that keeps the ice smooth as glass. Whether you’re skating solo, with friends, or on a family outing, these rinks are affordable and packed with open skate hours throughout the week.
