Hip in Detroit's Picks for the Weekend - January 24tt - 26th, 2025

Friday, January 24th & Saturday, January 25th - Kat Fight @ Small's: This weekend, The Small's crew will be celebrating the life of the late great Kat Paled aka DJ Pleasure Kitten at Kat Fight, a two night event. Sadly, Kat left this world near the end of 2024 and a hole was left in the Detroit music scene. This Friday and Saturday night Small's will celebrate this wonderful person with some of the music that she loved. Friday night, there will be a live show with some of her favorite bands, including The Johnstonsons, The Love Part, Access To Concrete, Amaranth, Comfort Cure and Siamese. DJ Jon Noble will be spinning between bands. Cover is $15, all ages are welcome, and doors open at 7 PM. Then on Saturday, Resident DJs Eletrosonik, Aaron Hingst and Jon Noble are joined by very special guests DJs Pinknoise, Chris Rohn, Raev, Jamie James and Darren Revell, all playing lots of Kat's favorite tunes. This one starts at 8 PM.

Saturday, January 25th - The Loving Touch Flea Market: Calling all treasure hunters! The Loving Touch is holding a flea market this Saturday afternoon! The staff of The WAB, Cvrses, and The LT will be setting up shop to sell all sorts of cool stuff! It's free to come check out and the market is open from noon - 5 PM.

Saturday, January 25th - Bandeau Record Release Party @ Outer Limits Lounge: Bandeau is celebrating the release of their new album this Saturday night! The release party is happening at Outer Limits Lounge and will also feature music from Detroit Party Marching Band, Troy Gregory & The Mercury Gauntlet, Timothy Monger and Carol Catherine, Jim Cherewick. Saturday, January 25th - The Lost World @ The Redford: The 1925 silent film "The Lost World" will be playing at The Redford Theatre this Saturday night. John Lauter will be performing the live organ accompaniment for the film, which is amazing to experience, if you never have before. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here. Showtime is 8 PM.
